The boring part of the Spring Purse is finished. Now comes the fun part: decorating it with flowers and butterflies and possibly birds. I've knit the birds, but I'm not sewing them on before I can be convinced they DO indeed look like birds.
***More and more I'm realizing that I'm
very behind on my "teen" and "kids" reading. I just got
Smack by Melvin Burgess in the mail today and started reading it, and when I found out the main character is 14 years old, I went,
not again! Then, of course, it got me thinking... I read
Go Ask Alice when I was in college, just because it's supposedly one of those books everyone
should have read. I do love the
Harry Potter Series, but I was already too old to be the target audience when I read them. Same for the
Twilight Saga. I never got around to reading
Chronicles of Narnia or
His Dark Materials...Obviously, when my age group was reading those, I was spending time with Louisa May Alcott, Mark Twain, Emily Bronte, Daphne Du Maurier, Jane Austen, Charles Dickens and most of the rest of the classics. I only regret the fact that at the time I had to read them in Turkish. It's okay though, 'cos now I'm re-reading most of them in English, and it's like a whole new world that makes a lot more sense.
